2009 Sports Camp @ Malden Catholic High School
July 6 - August 14
Half Day Program, 8am-12noon*

 

*You can also register for Camp Nihan Day Camp from 12-4pm for an additional $75,

with transportation to and from Malden Catholic. 

 

*Golf Camp runs 12-4pm only, in order to use course availability.  Hockey Camp runs 7.5 hours per week for each age group.

Want to learn more about a specific sport and be in the best shape for your upcoming sport season? Agassiz Village collaborates with Malden Catholic High School, not only well known for its athletic success, but also its high expectations in sportsmanship, responsibility, and leadership.  Register for our Sports Camp, where you can practice your skills, learn strategies, and improve your overall performance. Our camps balance teamwork with individual improvement, with the goal of developing the child’s skills and knowledge of the specific sport. We expect our coaches to be teachers of life's lessons and role models ready to demonstrate how to win with grace and to accept defeat with class.

You can register and learn more about our programs below or call the Agassiz Village office at 781-860-0200.  For summers only:  Allan Gillis, Mass Camp Director available at 617-461-1063.  (This cell can be used as an emergency contact during the summer sessions as well.)

Camp Details

  • All camps are ages 9-15, co-ed, unless noted below in specific sport.  Age groups are divided into appropriate ability, size, and experience level.

  • Each week is a different sport and is limited to 60 participants; note below some camps are limited to less than 60.

  • Half day program is Monday - Friday 8am –12pm (lunch not included)

  • Full day program is available, for additional fee of $75, in which participants will be transported  with MC Staff, including Patrick Driscoll, Malden Catholic Asst. Athletic Director, and AV staff to Camp Nihan day camp program in Saugus, MA, also run by Agassiz Village.  At that site, there is swimming, boating, outdoor activities, and more.  Participants bring their own lunch.

  • There’s an additional $25 discount for Malden Catholic students and siblings regardless of registration date.

  • You can register for any of the camp programs below with a $50 registration fee per sport.

  • Some Sports Program sessions are for boys only.  THIS YEAR WE ARE INTRODUCING MORE PROGRAMS TO YOUNGER AGE GROUPS AND MORE CO-ED PROGRAMS!!  Please see notes below for details.

  • All Campers receive an Agassiz Village/ Malden Catholic Sports Camp t-shirt.

Tuition Per Week for Sports Camp

Pay in full by June 1, receive $25 additional discount per session. 

 

Half Day $175       8am-12noon only for all programs except Golf (12-4pm) and Hockey (8-10 hrs)

                            See below for session dates and sport specifics for lacrosse, baseball,

                                  tennis, and soccer, and swimteam
 

Half Day $175       GOLF 12noon-4pm This time allows for use of available course times.

                            Golf takes place week of August 10-14, 2009

 

7.5 hours/wk  $175 HOCKEY  Valley Forum  Monday-Friday, see hours based on age

 

Example of Daily Schedule (Except for Hockey Camp; Golf Camp runs same schedule 12-4pm)

8:00 a.m. Arrive at Malden Catholic; warm ups
8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m Head Coach time: drills, strategy, practice, scrimmages, lead up games, etc.
12:00 p.m. Pick up at MC.  Participants in Camp Nihan afternoon program depart for camp in Saugus.
4:00 p.m Participants from Camp Nihan program return to MC for pick up.
   
   

PACKING FOR SPORTS CAMP For Sports Camps, participants should wear appropriate play/ workout clothes.  Sneakers or appropriate sports footwear are required.  Please note below for specific needs for golf, lacrosse, hockey, and baseball. 

  • A water bottle with the players name on it is required.  There will be water available on the fields and in the gym at all times.  Players can bring a change of clothes in a gym bag and can bring a private lock. 
  • All participants of SPORTS CAMPS should bring the following:

                    _____ Hat for sun protection

                    _____ Sunblock (SPF 30 or higher)

                    _____ Water bottle with your child’s name on it

                    _____ Sneakers or appropriate footwear

NOTE:  Sandals and flipflops are not allowed for ANY of our sports programs, as our campers are active throughout the day.  Sneakers are the best way to prevent foot and toe injuries.

 

Please leave valuables, electronics (cell phones, videogames, Ipods, etc.) and other unnecessary or inappropriate items at home.

Lacrosse Coach: Rick Mazzei, Malden Catholic Head Lacrosse Coach

  • 2009 Session:  July 6-10, 8am-12noon

  • Co-ed program, ages 9-15

  • All abilities welcome- beginner through varsity

Each player will experience a full week of instruction and training to improve in: shooting, catching, stickwork, passing, defensive and offensive concepts.  Players should bring helmet, stick, gloves, and arm pads.  Contact us if this equipment is not available to you; we will have limited equipment on hand.

Baseball  Coach: Steve Frecker, Malden Catholic Head Baseball Coach
 

  • 2009 Session:  July 13-17, 8am-12noon

  • Boys only program, ages 9-15

  • All abilities welcome- beginner through varsity

Each player will experience a full week of instruction and training to improve in: hitting, fielding, base running, pitching, defensive and offensive concepts.  Sneakers or baseball cleats are required as well.  Bring your baseball glove.

  • Co-ed program, ages 9-15

  • All abilities welcome- beginner through varsity

Each player will experience a full week of instruction and training to improve in: shooting, passing, heading, ball movement, defensive and offensive concepts.

  • 2009 Session:  August 3-7, 8am-12noon

  • Co-ed week, ages 9-15

  • All abilities welcome- beginner through varsity

Each player will experience a full week of instruction and training to improve in: shooting, passing, ball handling, rebounding, defensive and offensive concepts.

Golf  Coaches: Mike O'Connor, current Malden Catholic Head Golf Coach and Paul Musmecci, retired MC Head Golf Coach
 

  • 2009 Session:  August 10-14, 12:00-4:00pm

  • Co-ed week, ages 9-15

  • All abilities welcome- beginner through varsity

Each player will experience a full week of instruction and training to improve in: putting, chipping, bunker play, the full swing, course play, rules and etiquette.  Players should wear appropriate golf wear: collared shirts; no cut-off shorts or jeans.  Sneakers or soft spike golf shoes are required as well.  Metal spikes are not allowed.  Bring golf clubs if you have a set available for use- this is not a requirement, but please contact us if you do not have clubs so that we will ensure we have enough equipment for all.  

Additional Golf Details: Pick up and drop off will take place at Malden Catholic. Program activities will take place at Malden Catholic, Mt. Hood Golf Course, Cedar Glen Golf Course and Camp Nihan. We will provide transportation to these sites and back to Malden Catholic for pick up.

Ice Hockey Coach: Chris Serino, Malden Catholic Athletic Director and Head Hockey Coach
 

  • 2009 Session:  7.5 hours, August 10-14, Valley Forum in Malden

  • All abilities through varsity, Goalies welcome

    • Midgets, Bantams, Peewees hockey camp runs 8:00-9:30am  Monday-Friday; for Mites, Squirts, Peewees**, hockey camp runs 9:30-11:00am Monday-Friday.  (**Peewees can choose the appropriate group, based on their age, size, ability.) 

                            

  • PLEASE NOTE:  Pick up and drop off BY PARENTS for this camp program will take place at this Valley Forum Rink.  We do not provide transportation to this rink.

Each player will experience a full week of instruction and training to improve in: power skating, stick handling, passing and shooting, strategy.  Players should wear full hockey gear, including helmet, and bring 1-2 sticks.

  • 2009 Session:  July 20-24, Wilmington tennis courts

  • Co-ed week, ages 9-15

  • All abilities welcome- beginner through varsity

Each player will experience a full week of instruction and training to improve in all tennis skills.  Bring your own racket if you have one that you are comfortable with.  We will have limited rackets available, so please let us know if you need to use one so we can ensure enough equipment.

Full refund for cancellation through June 1; after June 1, at least two weeks prior to camp session start date, full refund except $50 administrative fee.  Within two weeks of session start, no refunds.
